Effect of Covering Crops between Rows on the Vineyard Microclimate, Berry Composition and Wine Sensory Attributes of ‘Cabernet Sauvignon’ (Vitis vinifera L. cv.) Grapes in a Semi-Arid Climate of Northwest China

Covering crops was a commonly used viticultural technique to adjust the vineyard microclimate, thus affecting grape and wine quality. In this two-year study, purslane (Portulaca oleracea L.) cover lands between rows in vineyards located semi-arid Northwest China, Xinjiang. Results showed that photosynthetically active radiation around fruit zone temperature with covering treatment decreased. Compared clean tillage, had lower TSS higher TA berries, while alcohol content also found their corresponding wines. significantly increased contents of anthocyanin flavonol grapes wines year 2018, but no significant effect on flavanols observed Norisoprenoids, esters, C6 alcohols were treatment, respectively. Additionally, compared improved sensory value wines, especially floral aroma complexity This study helped us better understand feasibility applying viticulture climate China.
